On May 8th, 2026, at 7:00 AM, the school hosted an event for its future military cadets in the Black Box Theater. Many people, including students, teachers, parents, and current military personnel, came to celebrate and congratulate their future soldiers. Some of our senior Cavaliers will be enlisting in the military soon for the next stage in their lives. Those students are They are Lauren Downie (National Air Guard), Eddie Mulbah (Army Reserves), Da Kajsa Nance (Army National Guard), Payton Sheffield (Marines), Chhitij Subba (Marines), Julian Tull (Marines), and Peyton Wallace (National Air Guard).
Each student was awarded a gold medal as well as a handshake from the Sioux Falls superintendent, Dr. James Nold. It was a very honorable moment and showed how much the school cares for its students. The military is a great place to honor and contribute to your country. There are many branches in the U.S., each significantly supporting America, such as the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy, and Space Force. Each one has its own unique responsibilities, members, reserves, and special forces. The Space Force is the only branch that does not have any reserves or special forces due to its more technical side of the military, instead of physical combat. But each branch does its best to support America and help keep our country safe. One of our future Marines, Peyton Sheffield, shares, “I wanted to serve my country by serving at the highest rank and to gain the benefits you get from serving.”
We can’t thank these Cavaliers enough for taking the opportunity to protect America and support our country, and we wish them the very best as they begin their military careers.
