I bet you’ve heard about the Nee Doh craze by now and the desperate need to have one! The trend started in early January when they started going viral on Tiktok and other platforms. At first they were easy to find at local nearby stores, but soon the shortages started and now it’s like hunting for treasure.
On TikTok you can see many videos of people ”nee doh” and “squishy” hunting at various places like Walmart, Target, and grocery stores. The shelves are wiped clean with only the boxes left, being sold out for weeks at a time on back order. Nee Dohs have also begun to sell out online, making them harder to find.
There are many different kinds of Nee Dohs ranging from small one- handed fidgets to massive squeezes. The Nice Ice Cube is one of the most popular, being shaped like a cube, having a thick sticky substance inside. Other ones are Fuzz Balls, Nice Cream Cones,Dream Drop, Groovy Glob, etc. They even have ones for holidays such as heart-shaped Nee Dohs for Valentine’s Day and three variations of Easter eggs, one color-changing to cold water, and the other a shaving cream texture, and a Jelly Hop bunny that feels similar to the Nice Cube texture.
Students at school are seen with collections of them in class having all the colors and they are originally used for stress fidgets and still are, but some people consider them fun toys to collect. When asked how she felt about the trend, junior Braylin Dupert replied, “Honestly, I lowkey kind of like it. It takes my stress away.”
As time goes on, hopefully the wildness settles down and people move on to the next trend like they always do. This trend has lasted 3 months now; how much longer do you think it will go on?
