As the end of the year approaches, seniors look forward to the nationwide annual game of Senior Assassin. The game consists of teams of competing seniors at your school who are playing in a battle royale style, with the last team standing winning. It gives everybody a shock, realizing that their every move is being watched and their daily routines are slowly beginning to change- even mine!
The game is played on the Splashin app that displays all the teams and your targets’ locations. You use water guns to spray your targets and eliminate them. Immunities, which keep you safe from getting out, are swim goggles and floaties. The teams are made up of 2-6 people of your choice. Safe zones include Jefferson (not allowed on the school’s property at all), homes (unless permission is given), jobs, and religious sanctuaries. The game began on April 1, and a team is assigned as your target to get out. The rounds are 6 days long, giving you a limited time frame. Each round has a purge, a short period during which no immunities work. “I got out during a purge while getting a tattoo!” explains senior Alexis Binfet.
You might be asking, what the hype is around the game? Well, there is $1,170 on the line for the winning players. Before a game begins, each player must pay $10 (for every time they play). This has caused people to take it very seriously and take it to the extreme, hoping to win the pot!
There is one catch: if your team doesn’t get someone out, one of your own teammates is eliminated as a consequence. This makes players determined and go hardcore so they can keep their team intact. Throughout the entire game, each team gets only one buy-in, which they will then pay $10 again for the player on their team who got out, to get back in.
As the game progresses, more players get out, and the anticipation builds as the teams grow smaller and smaller. Only time will tell which team has its head in the game!
