Known for his energy, field chemistry, and athleticism, Cam Skattebo took on the starting position in Week Three of the season after Tyrone Tracy Jr. dislocated his shoulder, losing the Chiefs game on Thursday, September 22nd. With a strong start to the season, especially since starting, Skattebo continued to amaze as he consistently delivered for the Giants. Writer Hugh Green of Athlon Sport writes,“The fourth-round [draft] pick impressed early with 410 rushing yards and five touchdowns in eight games.” His energy fueled his team through the early season, but unfortunately his time was cut short in the October 26th Giants vs. Eagles game.
Landing awkwardly after a tackle from Eagles Linebacker Zack Baun, Skattebo sustained a significant injury. The scene had teammates and spectators looking away in fear as he was rushed off the field in an air cast. News reporter George Lund writes, “Skattebo suffered a dislocated ankle, fractured fibula and ruptured deltoid ligament in his right leg.” Between surgery, physical therapy, and learning to trust weight on his ankle, he has a heavy recovery process ahead of him, but health experts and coaches are confident he’ll be game-ready for the 2026 off-season.
Between physical therapy sessions and game visits, Skattebo has taken a different approach to his recovery. As of recently, he has built a cult following while streaming on Twitch, a live-streaming social media platform. While streaming, he does everything from playing the hit game World of Warcraft to discussing the correct way to eat a taco. Skattebo recently asked in his live chat, “Do you turn your head to eat a taco, or do you turn the taco for you? Like, are you dominant to the taco… or do you turn your head for the taco?” His odd behaviors and contagious energy are what keep his fans hooked both in the chat and on the field.
Skattebo has a rough year ahead of him, but fans, coaches and teammates alike are supporting him the whole journey. Everyone hopes for a smooth recovery and an amazing 2027 season.
