“Regretting You” came into theaters October 24th 2025 and quickly became one of the biggest movies of 2025, but how could this be if Rotten Tomatoes critics only gave it a 27%? Adding comments with things such as sloppy, corny, and overfilled. But audience reviews seem to be saying quite the opposite, with things like heartwarming, emotionally appealing, and so bad that it’s good. Being at the top of the box office, the weekend it came out making $8.1 million dollars and now after having been released for less than a month, having made $50 million dollars and counting. Truthfully, how is the movie and how did it get reviews so all over the board?
Stars McKenna Grace, Mason Thames, Dave Franco and Allison William play the 4 main characters in the movie. As a part of their PR for the movie, Mason Thames and McKenna Grace seem to be especially close. Which makes some people think that they are actually in love and it makes their chemistry in the movie even better. Or that this is all for PR and they are just good at acting on and off set. Either way, it has definitely brought more attention to the movie. With people seeing how they have been acting in interviews, and wanting to see if their movie acting is just as good. But with all of this being said from an outside point of view, what does an average teenager actually think of the movie?
Having seen the movie the day after it came out, I thought it was really really good. Don’t get me wrong,
there were definitely points that were way too cheesy, but there were also really sweet moments too. In an interview for the movie, actress and star McKenna Grace explains, “I felt a strong connection to my character, Claire, and believe that her experiences, such as parent-child disagreements, are common for teenagers.”
So is it worth watching? If you like cheesy romcoms with an actual intriguing story line, more than just being in love at 17 years old, then yes. But if you don’t like a predictable story and some over dramatic acting, then probably not. Either way, the 1 hour and 56 minute movie has definitely made it big among audiences.
