Garrett Willaredt is a dedicated student in Jefferson High School whose ambition shines through his academic path. He takes advantage of the classes that are offered at Jefferson and is currently enrolled in Dual Credit College Government and College Algebra. Garrett says he chose these courses “to get ahead for when I go to college next year,” and appreciated that they were a “way cheaper” alternative to a headstart on college credits.
He’s earned the honor roll multiple times and will soon be recognized for completing the AOF (Academy of Finance) Program. To stay focused, Garrett reminds himself that excellent grades lead to better scholarships and opportunities. In addition, he says the best place or way to study is at Barnes & Noble because of its quiet, distraction-free atmosphere which helps him stay concentrated on his schoolwork. His favorite study meal is Venti iced blonde vanilla latte at Starbucks. His choice to study at Barnes & Noble, paired with his fixation on scholarships, shows how intentional he is about creating the right environment for success.
Garrett finds inspiration from his mom, whose dedication to her job shaped his values for his future. “She has worked so hard throughout my entire life to give me and my brothers whatever we ask for,” he shares. Her success in achieving a Quality Lead Analyst role at Citi Bank motivates Garrett to follow in her footsteps and push himself to achieve more. He envisions himself majoring in Accounting at USD after graduating Jefferson High School and later entering into the career field as an accountant.
