Student Council Hosts Annual Generosity Week

It’s that time of year again, Jefferson High School, the season of giving is here with Generosity Week! This cherished annual tradition is not just about fun, games, and school spirit; it’s about coming together as a community to support a meaningful cause. This year, all proceeds from Generosity Week will go toward Cav’s Closet, a program that provides winter coats and essential items to students and families in need. With frigid temperatures setting in, many in our community struggle to stay warm, and Cav’s Closet ensures that no one goes without the necessities. By participating in this week’s events, you’ve made an impact in the lives of others.

At the heart of the week’s activities is the ever-popular Penny Wars! Here’s how it works: outside Student Services, you’ll find five jugs, one for each grade and one for the staff. To earn points, add pennies (or pop tabs) to your grade’s jug. Want to sabotage another team? Add silver coins or dollar bills to their jug, those deduct points! The competition is fierce, and it’s all for a great cause. This year, the stakes are even higher: the winning grade will be rewarded with Flyboy donuts for the entire grade!

But Generosity Week isn’t just about the penny drive. It’s also a chance to show your school spirit with themed dress-up days throughout the week:
• Monday: Long Winter’s Nap (Pajama Day)—Stay cozy and comfortable!
• Tuesday: Groutfit Day—Break out your all-gray ensembles for a monochromatic look.
• Wednesday: Ugly Sweater Day—The gaudier, the better! Show off your holiday spirit.
• Thursday: Tacky Thursday—Mix and match your most outrageous patterns and colors.
• Friday: Class Colors—Wear the color of your ID to represent your grade.

Student Council has been hard at work organizing this year’s Generosity Week. “Generosity Week is more than just a fundraiser,” stated

President-Elect Nora Weaver. “It’s about showing that Jefferson cares. It’s amazing to see the school come together to help those in need, especially during the holiday season.” So, Jefferson, this is your moment to shine! Bring your pennies, your spirit, and your enthusiasm to make this Generosity Week the most impactful yet. Whether you’re donating, dressing up, or hyping up your grade to win those donuts, every action counts. Let’s make this year’s contribution to Cav’s Closet one to remember.
